Following this project, I joined THERAsurf’s board of directors as Director of Marketing, where I now oversee all marketing, social media, and website maintenance, as well as facilitate grant applications, manage volunteers, and serve as a dedicated “THERAsurfer” at events. As a team, we have raised over significant funding to continue to providing surf therapy to Children in Los Angeles and internationally in places like many parts of Mexico and Jamaica.
THERAsurf is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to giving children with special needs and those from underprivileged communities the chance to experience the healing power of the ocean through surf therapy.
They approached me to refresh their website with two clear goals: inspire families to join their events and create a more compelling platform to attract donors. Our goal was to design a homepage that captured the essence of the brand and a donation experience that motivated donors to give. Donors should be able to easily locate the donation button, and the donation process should be straightforward and customizable.
In addition, we aimed to build both a front-end and back-end experience that streamlined participation and helped THERAsurf stay organized, making it simple for participants and volunteers to register, while also equipping the organization with the tools to efficiently manage and track applications.
The project focused heavily on user experience and most importantly, improving the donation flow to make it simpler, more engaging, and more rewarding for supporters.
